Feeling A Bit Down After The Holiday?(Part 4)

My last post was about disappointment and how it is caused by your beliefs about yourself. You can change your beliefs. And as a result, you can become a totally different person. With a totally different life.
Sometimes these belief/life changes can happen to you, sometimes they are caused by things you do. Sometimes you can have accident and totally change your future behaviour. Sometimes you try something new and find out that you are successful at it. As a result, you gain confidence and start moving forward into a new type of behaving and achieving.
This last one is the one that we want. Sometimes you try something new and find out that you are successful at it. As a result, you gain confidence and start moving. That is what we are aiming for. And that is what will happen. Believe me. I know, and you will find out, that this program/plan will work. And will work as well for you as it did for me. Better than you could believe. (By the way all puns ARE intended.
Why not start now? What have you got to lose?

1)First you write out a statement of what it is that you want to achieve.
Make it something that you really want to do. Do not make it the type of target that you know you can't get. Such as: Go to Hollywood, marry a film star and win an Oscar. Make it something that has been achieved by people you know. Something that you just aren't sure that you can do. Things like
stopping smoking or losing weight or getting fitter.
2)Write your target down in every detail. Include the what, how, when, where and why.
3)You go right to the beginning and ask yourself:
What is the first physical thing I must do to get the ball rolling? Write this down.
4)Start it. If, for some reason, the first step doesn't happen, go back to your written target.
Usually that first step is too big a challenge.
Write out the first step in more detail. You must break it down into even smaller steps. That's right. Make the first step so easy that you will be able to do it. And go for it again.
If you still can't succeed, pick something else to go for. Something a bit easier. Perhaps something like stopping smoking or losing weight or getting fitter may be too hard a target.
This program consists of
1) Finding out what you really want.
2) Making a WELL FORMED OUTCOME for it.
3) Setting up a plan to achieve that well formed outcome.
The SECRET POWER of this plan is to WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN. IN GREAT DETAIL.
This is a simplified and much shortened version of my Belief Change system. I will be putting the fuller version in an ebook (don't worry, it'll be free lol) soon.
BUT the above will work for you. If it doesn't work
at first, it is probably because you are being too ambitious. This is a very powerful life skill. It will take you where you want to go. BUT you are only a beginner. You must learn how to use this skill with skill. Be patient. Give yourself a chance.
Pick a target that you know you could do, if only you could try hard enough. Play with it. Gain confidence in your abilities.
Here is a great idea. Try using this plan for something fairly simple (but not TOO simple lol).
So your target here is getting to know how to use the plan.
Then you can try something a bit harder to achieve but not too hard (lol)
Just to give you a good start, here are the first and second steps:
1)Get a notebook and pen.
2)WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN.

Feeling A Bit Down After The Holiday?(Part 3)

Just to refresh your mind.
Research shows that three reasons are reported (for feeling depressed).
1)The gap between what people are feeling and what they feel they should be feeling. In other words, disappointment.
2)Feeling trapped.
3)Feeling unable to control their environment.
Let's have a deeper look at them.
First is Disappointment. You are not getting what you want.
The major problem here is You. You do not have the Belief that you are going to get what it is that you want. You believe that good things only happen to other people. People who are luckier than you, who get more opportunities than you and who know 'how to do things better'.
This belief has to be changed.
You can learn, you should learn and you WILL learn how to change it.
You will learn to get the things that you want.
You will obtain the feeling of confidence that you 'know how do things'.
You will start doing the things that will bring you the things that you want, achieving your targets and feeling fulfilled instead of Disappointment.

Feeling A Bit Down After The Holiday?(Part 2)

Before we look at the causes of Depression that the research showed, let me say something. A major cause of Depression at this time of the year is Alcohol. Alcohol is a poison AND a depressant. This holiday has lasted for a week. Some people have taken three or four times more alcohol than they do in any other week in the year!
This is why children (who don't drink booze) are are so happy and have lots of fun at Christmas. Older people, who do drink, complain about having hangovers, bad heads and feeling awful. They often make matters worse by having some more alcohol. They say that it will 'cure' their hangover. They say that they will be glad when it is all over. Even when they go back to work they still feel depressed and unhappy.
If you are feeling down, ask yourself if you had more booze than you usually have.
Do not kid yourself. You have to compare how much you had to drink in the full holiday period. Some modest drinkers, let's say who
have 3 drinks twice a week, have had 5 drinks on 4 occasions. That's 3 1/2 times more alcohol than they are used to!
Remember what I said above, alcohol is a poison and a DEPRESSANT. That means that it poisons you and makes you feel depressed!
Those figures are only an example and your actual drinks figures may be different. It doesn't matter. If you have drunk more alcohol or more often than usual, that could be why you are feeling down.
Don't worry about it. You will be getting back to a more normal outlook as the alcohol works it's way out of your body.
Do NOT use the drinkers' logic and have a drink to buck you up or to make you feel better or because you usually have one.
To beat drinkers' depression keep off the booze until you feel better.

we'll have look at the other causes of feeling down, sad or depressed in the next post.

Feeling A Bit Down After The Holiday?

There is always a big increase in people going to the Doctor just after Christmas. They complain that instead of feeling happy, enjoying the spirit of Christmas and being of good cheer they feel down, disappointed and depressed.
This holiday should be a time of great happiness instead it is a peak time for suicide.`Families should come together but instead it is a peak time for family violence. Couples should show their love by exchanging gifts but instead it is a peak time for the start of divorces.
Why is this?
Research shows that three reasons are reported.
1)The gap between what people are feeling and what they feel they should be feeling. In other words, disappointment.
2)Feeling trapped.
3)Feeling unable to control their environment.
Does any of that sound familiar to you? Perhaps you have never been to the Doctor about it but most of us have experienced those feelings at times.
So what can we do about it?
In my next post, I'll tell you how to stop those feelings.

Your New Year ReVolution (Not ReSolution)

By that title I mean that, instead of making small unimportant changes in your life, you should be making changes at a higher Logical Level. (You will learn Logical Levels of thinking another time. It is a powerful tool to use in your life changing program).
To make it simple just for now let's use a simple example.
Perhaps you have been smoking too much and make a resolution to cut down a bit.
When you learn how to use higher Logical Levels of doing things you could use several approaches.
You could move the PROBLEM 'you have been smoking too much' to a higher Logical Level. You could now say: I have a HEALTH problem.
Instead of just being about smoking it now concerns Health, Diet, Exercise, Fitness and Alcohol.
Now the first resolution to 'cut down a bit on cigarettes' can become a new one: To improve your WHOLE life.
Now you have changed your New Year ReSolution to a New Year ReVolution.
I have about written lots of blogs and articles about changing your life.
